All these while, when i went to visit patients on Saturday, the wards normally are empty (very few patients), in my mind that they maybe went for procedures or discharged. Today, when we went for patients visiting, several of our patients told us that can we come again on Monday, because they want to packing to go back home, then come back again on Monday. Wao.. This is really special! They are allowed to go back home on Sunday, it is so special compared to the hospital system in my home town. (more…)

I’m exhausted
03/04/08
Today is my 3rd day of Internal Medicine (Therapy) rotation. It is only half of the rotation, but I already feel so exhausted. Why I’m so exhausted? Every morning, I have to wake up at 7am, prepare myself and 8am go to bus stop to wait for the “limited” bus. If I’m lucky enough, I could get the bus that deliver me near to hospital, or else I have to walk extra 400meters. That’s not so bad, reach hospital, and to climb up to my classroom which is located at 8th floor. Why don’t I use lift? Whole hospital, REGIONAL somemore, only 1 lift is working for patients, students, doctors and everyone. Only 1 lift!! What to do? I can only CLIMB up, not walk up to my classroom.. (more…)

Tuberculosis Rotation Finale
23/02/08
After 2 weeks having class in Tuberculosis Hospital which situated far in Jungle, it finally came into finale. We finished our class today by discussing the topic of treatment.
During these 2 weeks, we learned lots of stuffs, almost all types of pulmonary tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is well-known fast and easy spreading disease, many people are aware of it, do you know that pneumonia? It is actually 300 times easier than tuberculosis.
During the classes, we mainly study through chest x-rays and real patient case histories. It is interesting and fun!
Treatment of tuberculosis become more difficult due to adverse effects of drugs and tolerance of it. So I’m here to say, prevention is better than cure, get your chest x-ray done once a year to exclude yourself from it!
This is the chest x-rays film we see, there are more than 500 pcs. Each day, we have to look through around 50pcs.
4 muscular men holding a concentrated snow ball! You know how many kg of it? It is around 10kgs!
